What's Wrong With Me?

A perfect song for one of those days when you just want to retreat to your bed or a quiet spot. Life gets busy and situations become complicated, leaving you stressed, overwhelmed, deleting information from your brain, cranky or exhausted. Finally, you're asking yourself, "What's Wrong With Me?"

It's That Heat...

Sergio Mendes | That Heat from Concord Music Group on Vimeo.

This is just one of those fun video's with a very nice song and very talented artist collaborating. Sergio Mendes is working the piano, Erykah Badu adds to the mix with her voice and style, and Will-i-am, talented, entertaining and always bringing it.  This music is perfect for a front porch summertime party.

Sculpture

Impressively beautiful sculpture by Javier Marin born in Uruapan, Mexico. His work is powerful, magnificent and simultaneously soulful. I first saw his work in an interior design magazine featuring a garden. I don't remember which magazine anymore but the sculpture has remained in my mind, even as I've tried to figure out, how I could have a piece like this for my garden. This huge female head was positioned in that garden perfectly, making a glorious impact. I was mesmerize then and now. Still in love.

Poster Art

I really enjoy a nice concert poster. These posters for Kid Cudi's concert in 2009 are very well done. A new poster created for different cities. The designer/designers did an excellent job, capturing the attention of the intended audience, while focusing on imagination, and color without being too busy. The concept is fresh stylish and modern.

The Color of Beautiful and The New Faces of Caribbean Women

My heart skipped a beat when I saw these on the site of B. Vikki Vintage. Absolutely beautiful illustrations by the self taught artist Brianna McCarthy, who works in Trinidad and Tobago. Her passion is to change the the portrayal of Afro-Caribbean women as only, "strong, long-suffering...picturesque beings, against a backdrop of poverty, hardship, abuse/or scorn." Brianna is working to showcase a "new range of emotional experiences and expressions of Afro-Caribbean women through her art. The woman are beautiful, alluring, confident, and engaging to the now. I think she has succeeded and is well on her way.

Let Us Be Loving by Alice Russell

It's always about LOVE. Every shameless opportunity to get it in, my hand is raised. I believe it just makes us more better. Whatever your situation, LOVE is a constant learning and living experience and worthy of deep exploration. Without missing a beat, Alice Russell works this song to the funkiest of arrangements and performances. She and the entire band just Rocks this song out. Check it.

Image and type coming together for experimental play. A perfect sentence whispered at the right moment can totally remake a situation. Try it.

Graphically Speaking

The visuals of this photograph is marvelous. This electric green raincoat leaves you speechless, and these tights by Les Queues de Sardines are just crazy. This is the kind of combination that stops the audience dead in their tracks, and the mask hits it out of the box, completing the look. Even the scary looking typeface that is chosen to write "No Feet," is perfect. This is working. Love, love it.

Simple Summer Yum

A beautiful photograph by Gorgeous Grub and their restaurant experience at Boon Eat Drink. I love Black-eyed peas on any occasion and any season. These black-eyed peas are being served with pork but you could easily replace the pork with a nice square of cornbread. This is truly an afternoon lunchtime delight.

Window poster for the upcoming opening of Uncle Gene's, a new restaurant located in a small strip mall. Curious future patrons were peering into the windows, questioning the construction crew as work took place, wanting to know what was coming next. This was the solution.
